Direct Fit Big Block Headers

Big Block 2" Factory Cast Iron Replacements. The Headers that fit 396, 427, 454, and 502 Corvettes from 1965 to 1974 are now being handmade and directly replace the factory cast iron manifolds. These 2" primary tube 16 gauge headers are all handmade and welded then ceramic coated and copper coated on the inside. The copper coating keeps the heat inside the tube up to 2100 degrees, which supersedes the normal heat rating of Ceramic Coating at 1600 degrees. Your steering box, a-arms, frame rails, idler arm and A/C boxes all clear your new headers and even 4 speed owners, your clutch cross-shaft will clear too! With 2 1/2" Collectors exactly the same as your old Cast Iron Manifolds.

The original alternator, p/s and a/c brackets will fit but you Do need a spacer (a tube cut 3/4" long will work) for the stock 3/8 bolt or bolts that you will re-use instead of a 1” long header bolts. This spaces the brackets out a bit, which makes up for the difference in thickness of the cast iron manifold that is now a 3/8" thick header flange.

Tight Tuck Headers

Street Rod/Universal Super Competition headers are great for custom cars, or vetterods where a specific fit tuned Super Competition header is not available. They work great for those tight-fit installations where frame rails are close to the engine block. Stock motor mounts can be used. Because the collector exits parallel with the oil pan rail, maximum ground clearance is allowed.

These headers come complete with gaskets, header bolts and collector reducers. Block hugger headers come available in high heat resistant Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating.

TIP: Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will void all warranties. Ceramic coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Corvette Central recommends using cast iron exhaust manifolds or old headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage.

Will fit G.M. Aluminum D-Port Angle Plug heads, may not fit some aftermarket Angle Plug Heads.

What finish is applied to Patriot headers?

Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (MCTBC) is simply the best header finish on the market and is available on all Patriot headers. MCTBC protects and extends the life of headers by creating a thermal barrier that significantly lowers under hood temperatures and protects the substrate metal from thermal fatigue.

After MCTBC is applied, it is polished with a vibratory finishing process that produces a high luster aluminum appearance. The polishing process compresses and activates the coating, which increases the surface hardness to produce a finish that is 60% more corrosion resistant that an unpolished surface. This coating is easy to maintain and will last for years under normal operating conditions.

Hooker Headers

Hooker headers are available for both side mount exhaust and under-car exhaust applications. Side mount systems are complete with headers and side tubes. Slip-in mufflers can be ordered separately. Super Competition headers are designed to use with under-car exhaust systems. Both systems feature four-into-one styling.

Applications are for any combination of air conditioning, power steering or brakes, and manual or automatic transmissions. Header sets include header gaskets, header bolts, and instructions. Some systems may not be legal for street use in some states - check state laws before installing.
